The Culture Factory Project of the ENI Enrico Mattei Foundation was born as a natural development of the Giovani Project created in 1988 by Italgas for the purpose of offering new technologies not easily accessible or not well-known to university students. This gives birth to the five Multimedia Libraries which offer, in addition to free access to Internet, other educational and information services.
With the spreading of Internet to universities, homes and Internet points, the Libraries develop in order to cope with the necessity and demand of their users. These Libraries create a huge variety of services and become Culture Factories: centres that offer new technologies, as well as information and services to young people wishing to travel, study, work and live in Europe.
